How to create a vapp
i f you are running vsphere do this connected to the vsphere server rather than the esxi host
Right click your cluster and edit settings.
You see how new vapp is grey?
Turn on DRS. It must be on for vapp to work
Right click cluster again.
Now make new vapp
Name your vapp
Give it appropriate shares
Finish
You will see the Vapp under your cluster.
Now just DRAG and DROP vms into your vapp
You will see the vms nested after you drag them in.
In the summary tab of your vapp edit the settings
You can leave the resources as default if you don’t need to change them
Click startup order
This is where you can edit the start up order.
If it’s a windows or linux box you can enable VMWARE TOOLS ARE READY so that the next machine only starts when the machinve in the group above it is totally up.
You can just use the time elapsed for delays..
so here
Esx_esx2 waits 120 after esx_esx1 start before starting
Now you can power on the vapp instead of the machines.
