Unable to connect to the MKS: Failed to connect to server : cannot open a vm's console esxi/esx

Posted on 2:40 PM by Unknown

Problem opening the console to a virtual machine on your host?
The errors connecting will look something like this.

Port 902 has to be open from your client to your host.

How to test is you can get to port902

Telnet to your host port 902.
Example: in dos do   telnet hostip 902

    You should get this

If you don’t see that, then there is a problem somewhere along the way.
Somewhere pot 902 is blocked . It can be on your host, router, anywhere.

Another reason could be that your vi console is set to allow only one display and someone else is on:

What is the MKS:     MKS : mouse keyboard screen -thx kjb007

    also to note:
"In addition to proper DNS, MKS depends on port 902 end to end (i.e. telnet <hostipaddress> 902).  MKS errors are almost always DNS or firewall.  The only exception to the 902 requirement is when using vCloud Director which can proxy that connection across 443 for your users."
